Family Life Skills of Lancaster, a licensed affiliate of Life skills International, Inc., is thrilled to present the "Learning to Live, Learning to Love" classes in the Lancaster, PA area. These classes have helped many individuals around the world find freedom from destructive emotions or behaviors. As the instructor Dr. Paul Hegstrom says, "If you're teachable, it's fixable!" His personal story offers an incredible amount of hope to those who've battled unsuccessfully to overcome destructive behaviors.
Approved by US courts as a batterer's intervention program, and requested by probation officers because of its effectiveness, the "Learning to Live, Learning to Love" course addresses internal issues that are at the root of destructive behaviors. Brain scans performed on class participants have demonstrated a clear shift in brain activity (same person, same triggering event) from the subconscious part of the brain to the rational thinking part of the brain. As a result, class participants have experienced healthy shifts in relationships, habits and lifestyles as they are able to rationally respond instead of reflexively react to life's triggers. Class groups meet three hours per week for approximately six months. Classes are information-driven, and presented with grace, dignity and hope. Dr. Paul Hegstrom believes that there is a reason for destructive behaviors, but no excuse. This gracious approach to personal responsibility is foundational to the effectiveness of these classes. Who benefits from these classes? The simple answer is anyone who wants to approach life with greater clarity & maturity. This curriculum teaches the values and skills that are normally modeled in a healthy, balanced home - such as personal responsibility, how to manage emotions, how to resolve conflict, respect for self and others, healthy boundaries and identity. Healing & maturity is possible - you were designed for it! |
